Agriculture & Heavy Equipment

About: Agriculture & Heavy Equipment is a program that gives students who are interested in the mechanics of machines a start on an exciting career pathway. This career is the backbone of keeping other industries moving with 18% of career-tech graduates coming from the Agriculture pathway. Learn how to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of equipment, including lawnmowers, tractors, skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment. In addition, this program teaches you how to safely handle tools, understand technical manuals and schematics, and how to use electronic and computerized diagnostic equipment.

Auto Body & Paint

About: Traffic mishaps occur daily, so there’s always a demand for qualified and talented collision repair technicians who can make damaged vehicles look new again. Auto Body & Paint is a one-year senior-only program for those who like to work with their hands, work on cars, and solve problems. Students explore the details of collision repair, structural materials, and technological advances, including the ins and outs of auto body construction, surface prep, dent repair, welding, and cutting. Students will learn to replace or repair and paint damaged body panels and how to straighten the frame of cars twisted from the force of an accident. Students also learn the art of fabrication of restored vehicles including custom painting and airbrushing.

Automotive

About: Those who successfully complete this Eastland-Fairfield program generally have a job waiting for them at graduation. This program is part of the national AutomotiveYES program that enables qualified students to work alongside master technicians during their senior year and earn a paycheck at the same time. These businesses tend to hire the students full-time upon graduation.

Aviation

About: Students enrolled in the Eastland Career Center Aviation program will learn the principles of flight, basic principles of aviation, air traffic control systems, ground maintenance, and FAA rules and regulations. Students will also engage with drones and flight simulators with the prospect of earning industry credentials and licensures over the course of the program.

Cosmetology

About: Express your creative side while helping and being of service to others. Cosmetology students learn to care for hair, skin, and nails, including shampooing, conditioning, shaping, styling, perming, hair coloring, manicuring, and performing facials. This program is designed to prepare students to take the State Board of Cosmetology Exam required to become a licensed cosmetologist.

Criminal Justice

About: The Criminal Justice program is looking for honest and mature individuals with good judgment and strong character. Students study patrol tactics, arrest techniques, search and seizure, and Constitutional law. Physical training, Emergency Telecommunications Certificate, and first aid/CPR are also a part of this program. Upon graduation, successful completers of this program can enter the military or pursue further education towards a police-training program.

Culinary Arts

About: As one of only five programs in Ohio that has been accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF), students will gain hands-on experience in a variety of methods for beginning their pathway in the culinary arts. Students will gain hands-on experience in a variety of methods for preparing creative dishes. Successful students are eligible for college scholarships and credits, allowing students to get a head start in this field. Students also compete in local, state, and national competitions as a part of our Culinary Arts and management teams.

Dental Assisting 

Instructor: Sheri Sauer, ssauer@efcts.us

About: Students learn proper chairside procedures and techniques, x-ray exposure, processing and mounting, office management technology, sterilization techniques, and mixing of restorative and impression materials. They work on lab projects such as bleach trays, mouth guards and clear retainers. Clinical experience and professionalism are put into practice at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Students can earn State Certification for Dental Assisting, State X-Ray Certificate, and Certification in First Aid and CPR.

Electrical

About: Students in the Electrical program will learn and use electrical theory and equipment. Skill areas include installation and wiring of entrance panels, circuits, solar systems, fire alarm systems, and controls. Successful students should enjoy science and math, like working with their hands and have good eye-hand coordination. Apprenticeship opportunities and college credits are available for students in the senior year. Many employers will train students from this program upon hiring for a long-term career. Employers may also provide additional postsecondary training if needed.

Graphic Design

About: Combine a love of art with state-of-the-art computer software training to prepare for a career in graphic design. Creativity, originality, and professionalism are stressed as students develop a portfolio of original traditional art and computer graphics pieces for entry into an art/design college or to obtain employment.

Interactive Media

About: This exciting program is designed for enthusiastic students who are creative, like to work with technology, and are not afraid to experiment with new ideas. Students will create video and audio productions, including editing, special effects, animated motion graphics, soundtracks, and sound effects. Students will learn to create videos like a pro… writing scripts, creating storyboards, and operating professional equipment to capture high-quality audio and video.

Landscape Design & Management

About: This is a program for students who are creative, love the outdoors, and desire to grow, build, and maintain outdoor spaces. Students are introduced to a diversity of career opportunities within the year-round green industry. This program will prepare students for careers in landscape design, landscape maintenance, landscape installation, greenhouse management and production, as well as the growing fields of golf course and sports turf management. Students in this program will have the opportunity to design and plan residential and commercial landscape settings, diagnose and prescribe treatment for a variety of turf and landscape diseases, fungi and pests, operate and maintain the wide-range of equipment used in landscaping, and maintain desirable turf and landscape.

Medical Office

About: Students take part in field trips, job shadowing, and internships in various healthcare and business settings. They network and meet various healthcare employers in the area. This program will be filled with coursework that trains you for your future in medical office procedures, medical records, medical reports, medical terminology, medical transcription, and medical office software.

Pre-Engineering

About: Students are introduced to all aspects of computer-integrated manufacturing. They will learn about automation, manufacturing processes, computer modeling, computer numerical control (CNC) programming, and manufacturing equipment (mills and lathes). With these skills, students will be able to take a drawing they completed using computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to advanced manufacturing machines and make the object come to life.

Programming & Software Development

About: In this program, students study database design and management, software development, application/operating systems programming, and web programming. The hands-on projects focus on the application of programming. Computers are used in almost every aspect of our lives today: at work, at home, and even in our cars. Welding

About: Welding is an essential part of the structure of our world. From military bases, space centers, labs, hospitals, factories, and construction sites all around the world to the local welding/repair shop in your  home town, welding is in high demand everywhere. Students in this program learn to design, build, and repair projects using many types of welding such as: Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Gas Tungsten Arc, and Flux Cored Arc.
