Animal Management

About: Are you looking for a career in helping animals and the people who love them? The Animal Management program will train you in the skills necessary to be a vet assistant working side-by-side with professional veterinary

team members.Veterinary assistants play a vital role in the daily activities in a veterinary setting. They assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with every aspect of animal care, such as: feeding, bathing, and exercising animals; clean, sterilize exam/operating rooms/equipment; administer medications; properly restrain patients for blood/urine collection; perform lab tests; and maintain charts.

Automotive

About: Those who successfully complete this Eastland-Fairfield program generally have a job waiting for them at graduation. This program is part of the national AutomotiveYES program that enables qualified students to work alongside master technicians during their senior year and earn a paycheck at the same time. These businesses tend to hire the students full-time upon graduation.

Construction

About: Build your future in the growing field of construction. Learn the fundamentals needed to get ahead. Get on the fast track with the opportunity to enter an apprenticeship at an advanced level with local Registered Apprenticeship Programs. Paid school-to-apprenticeship placement is available after the junior year for qualified students. By graduation, qualified students will have completed the second year of a four-year apprenticeship.Construction students learn all aspects of constructing buildings, from site layout to exterior finishing.

Cosmetology

About: Express your creative side while helping and being of service to others. Cosmetology students learn to care for hair, skin, and nails, including shampooing, conditioning, shaping, styling, perming, hair coloring, manicuring, and performing facials. This program is designed to prepare students to take the State Board of Cosmetology Exam required to become a licensed cosmetologist.

Criminal Justice

About: The Criminal Justice program is looking for honest and mature individuals with good judgment and strong character. Students study patrol tactics, arrest techniques, search and seizure, and Constitutional law. Physical training, Emergency Telecommunications Certificate, and first aid/CPR are also a part of this program. Upon graduation, successful completers of this program can enter the military or pursue further education towards a police-training program.

Cyber Security

About: Our world has never been more connected, and the demand for securing our networks has never been greater! Become a network security professional and join the fight against cyber-attacks with the Cyber Security program at Fairfield Career Center. This two year program is designed around certifications from industry leaders such as CompTIA and Cisco in preparation for the information technology workforce. Students will learn how to design and build computer networks, and enhance their security skills. Interested students should have a strong math and reading foundation.

Dental Assisting

About: Students learn proper chairside procedures and techniques, x-ray exposure, processing and mounting, office management technology, sterilization techniques, and mixing of restorative and impression materials. They work on lab projects such as bleach trays, mouth guards and clear retainers. Clinical experience and professionalism are put into practice at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Students can earn State Certification for Dental Assisting, State X-Ray Certificate, and Certification in First Aid and CPR.

Exercise Science

About: Jump into the in-demand field of exercise science. The Exercise Science program is for the student who is interested in helping people prevent injuries or working with patients to help relieve their pain and increase their strength and mobility. Students interested in this program should have a strong science foundation. Occupations in the Exercise Science industry cover a wide range of education and training levels.This program prepares students for the ACSM Personal Trainer Certification.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC-R)

About: Students gain skills in heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration,and customer service while working toward EPA universal certification on residential and light commercial applications. Students also learn essential technologies for a variety of environments, such as clean room environments, computer rooms, and commercial high-rise buildings.

Nail Services

About: Express your creativity while learning the skills needed to be a successful nail technician. Nail Services students learn how to perform quality manicures, pedicures, and implement the techniques of artificial nail implementations all in a safe and sanitary manner. This one-year senior program is designed to prepare students to take the State Board Licensing Exam required to become a licensed nail technician.

Pharmacy

About: As with the medical field in general, the demand for pharmacy technicians is expected to increase faster than the average growth rate over the next decade because of the development of new drugs and an aging population that continues to grow. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in providing patients with medication and other healthcare services. The program introduces students to the basics of pharmacy practice in various pharmacy settings. Topics include professionalism, medical terminology, Pharmacy, an overview of pharmacy law, and the proper use of drug information resources.

Pre-Nursing

About: Students in the Pre-Nursing program gain an overview of the healthcare field. They study body mechanics, infection control and blood borne pathogens, legal issues and communication, therapeutic nutrition, personal care, wellness and disease process, phlebotomy, and advanced nursing skills. With this cross-training of skills, students have the opportunity to work as an entry-level caregiver in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals. Students receive training required by the state of Ohio for the State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) and have the opportunity to take the state test if they meet requirements.
